Calm - Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky. 216 x 345 cm

Stormy or calm, in the sunset or in the moonlight, always changing, but invariably beautiful, the sea fascinates us with its beauty and power. Many artists painted seascapes, but the most talented of them was and remains Ivan Konstantinovich Aivazovsky, who magnificently and very realistically conveys the power and beauty of the water element. Infinitely in love with the sea, he very often wrote it during a lull, each time creating a new image, filled with completely different feelings.

Summer afternoon. The bright sun floods warm golden light all around, in its rays fluffy white clouds are almost invisible, slowly floating in the high blue sky. In this radiance, the magnificent sea expanse, stretching to the horizon, shimmers with warm pinkish-amber shades. The sparkling glare and silver sparkles of a sunlit path lying on the water blind the eyes.

In the distance, in the sultry haze, the pale lilac outlines of the island of Capri and the dark purple silhouettes of the ships dissolve. There is not the slightest breath of breeze in the air. The mirror surface of the sea barely perceptibly moves, transparent waves lazily rush onto the gentle sandy shore.

A small boat tied to a peg sways near the shore. The rays of the midday sun, reflected from the water, cast a gentle-coral glare on her nose. And only in the shadow of this boat is a true emerald-turquoise color of water visible.

A young couple settled down on vacation very close to the oncoming waves. On the heated sand lies a young man on his stomach, his shirt brightly white in the sun. He slumbers, resting his head in his hands. A girl sits nearby, turning her back to the sun. Around silence, lulls a slightly audible measured rustle of waves.

A ship stands near the shore, the straightened sails barely moving, in the shadow of which sailors rest on the deck. A narrow long flag hung on the mast. It’s hot, there’s no wind. Full calm. Even the ubiquitous gulls are not visible around, only the deserted sky and sea.

A warm palette of delicate yellowish-honey and radiant pinkish-pearl shades, restrained halftones of chocolate-nut color, slightly diluted with spots of azure green and malachite paint, creates a light and joyful mood.

Thanks to the talent and skill of the artist, the water element comes to life. The sultry air is filled with sea odors, a quiet splash of waves is heard, sunbeams play on the water. The view of the vast expanse is breathtaking.

A feeling of serenity and some incredible happiness. One of the most charming and bright works of a brilliant artist, which can be admired endlessly.
